Also violet rectangular h/stamp “DAMAGED BY/SEA WATER”  Major Gazeley had recently been promoted from Captain, and was active as a witness in Japanese War Crimes. Copy trial transcript include with cover. Rare insight into military court proceedings.

IN56) India 1930 Mrs Victor Bruce (Mildred Bruce) signed flown SOLO FLIGHT LONDON-TOKYO IN HER PLANE Blackburn Bluebird. cacheted cover bears 1a KGV Rose Carmine SG 159 cancelled by East Rangoon cds of 31 OCT 30  with del’y same date cds on reverse. Mildred Mary Petre Bruce (10 November 1895 – 21 May 1990) was a British record-breaking racing motorist, speedboat racer and aviator in the 1920s and 1930s. Died 21 May 1990 (aged 94); Camden, London. Very rare survivor. Price $895

Hilsz, Maryse (1903–1946) French aviator, one of the most admired women flyers, who made a series of spectacular flights to the Far East and Africa in the 1930s and held the women's world altitude record. Name variations: Born in Levallois-Perret, France, in 1903; died in an airplane accident at Moulin-des-Ponts, on January 31, 1946. Was the recipient of the Harmon International Aviation Trophy for women fliers for 1933. Cover inscribed “Vive La France. Raid Paris-Saigon 1930. Carried by Mlle Maryse Hiltz, to whose credit lie 112 Parachute descents. Calcutta – Rangoon” Hand addressed to A Hales, c/o Stephen H. Smith Esq. Bears 2 x 1A Brown KGV India stamps, cancelled as follows: 1) cds Park Street Calcutta, 24 NOV 30, 2) cds Rangoon GPO, 26 NOV.30. Reverse bears arrival cds of Park St. Calcutta on return flight of 1 DEC 30. Exceedingly rare cover, filing crease at right does not affect the adhesives. Price $1350

BC870) South Africa 1915 use of Zieher German South East Africa embossed stamp postcard. Stampless On Active Service use, with signed by “ OC. (Officer Commanding)   No. 2 Armoured Train, “Scot” S.A. Engineer Corps. “ h/stamp in blue. Also blue boxed “POSTAGE PAID/PASSED CENSOR” Additionally cds of Army Base P.O. 5 South Africa  dated 18.FEB.15. Card is in good condition with three pinholes where most probably affixed to a noticeboard plus top left corner crease. Postal, let alone military usage of these cards is exceedingly rare.
