 APH1807) Australia Kangaroos Third Watermark: 2½d Blue (plus KGV ½d Green) tied to Avis de Reception card by 'REGD ADELAIDE' datestamp, addressed to Hungary, fine MAGYAROVAR 'A' and ' MAGYAROVAR 'B' arrival and departure datestamps; few minor blemishes.  Unusual destination. Price $239

APH5048) Australia 1913 1st wmk. Kangaroo 2½d Indigo strip of 3 on reduced 1914 (Jan 21) small typewritten cover to Germany, with Sydney Late Fee cancel. Strips of 3 are rare. Price $195

APH5106) Australia 1914. Small printed advertising cover for and to the YMCA San Francisco bearing 1d & 2d 1st wmk. Kangaroos, tied by Melbourne machine cancel of 28AU.14. Clean neat cover, overpaid ½d. Mailed exactly 1 month after the beginning of The Great War, not censored as the USA did not enter the war until April of 1917. Germany had made a secret offer to help Mexico regain territories lost in the Mexican–American War in an encoded telegram known as the Zimmermann Telegram, which was intercepted by British intelligence. Publication of that communique outraged Americans just as German submarines started sinking American merchant ships in the North Atlantic. Pres. Woodrow Wilson then asked Congress for "a war to end all wars" that would "make the world safe for democracy", and Congress voted to declare war on Germany on April 6, 1917. APH1804) AUSTRALIA 1915 (MAR.29) USE OF PPC ('TOWN HALL, WARWICK, QLD) ADDRESSED TO SWITZERLAND WITH KGV 1D RED (2) & ½D ROO TIED BY WARWICK '29MR15' MACHINE CANCEL, 'PASSED CENSOR/30MR15/BRISBANE' DATESTAMP IN RED, THE CARD LIKELY NEVER LEAVING AUSTRALIA WITH TWO STRIKES OF 'UNDELIVERABLE' HANDSTAMP IN RED, AND FINE STRIKE OF 'DEAD LETTER OFFICE/15AP15/BRISBANE' DATESTAMP. APH5049) Australia 1916 (Apr 8) use of 2k green Arms pair on small Esperanto Card from Moscow to Fremantle (Broome transit) and then KGV ½d & 1d added for postage to Italy, Moscow censor handstamp on face, stamp? removed from back of card. [Broome is an unusual entry port for mail to Australia. Price $295

APH4000) Australia KGV Large Multiple wmk. 1d Carmine-Rose Harrison Printing used with 1½d chocolate (Single Wmk) tied by Adelaide cds to 1920 (Jul 22) small cover to England. Opened slightly roughly, neat typewritten cover. Price $139

APH5158) Australia 1921 long advertising cover for R. F. Higgs & Co. Ltd., Tea Brokers, Sydney to the Du Pont Company. Bears horiz. pair 6d dull grey blue die II 3rd wmk. Kangaroos. Tied by San Francisco machine cancel of JAN 11 1921! Evidently missed cancelling in Australia. Neat typed address, roughly opened at left, not affecting stamps. Nice quadruple rate cover. APH5056) Australia 6d Chestnut Die IIB 3rd wmk. Kangaroo BW #21 solo franking on 1924 (May 10) Toowoomba (Qld) small registered cover to Brisbane, red Q4A registration label, light soiling. An illustrated Southern Cross Assurance self-addressed cover, Cat $250 (on cover). Slightly roughly opened with minor tear not affecting stamps & small part of flap missing. Price $195

APH2077) Australia 1930 small official envelope printed H.I. (His Imperial) Japanese Majesty’s Consulate Adelaide S. A. Bears solo use of 2d Red KGV SMW. Stamp has striking pre-printing paper crease from base through E N of pence and to King’s Neck. Cancelled by Adelaide slogan of 15 NOV 1930 “COMMONWEALTH LOANS /NOW OPEN/APPLY AT ONCE” neat typewritten cover. Price $149
